1. 3/4-in. Solid: Most of the people usually use ¾-in. thick solid piece of hardwood floor. This type of hardwood flooring can be installed over a plywood subfloor at the ground level or above.
2. 5/6-in. Solid: It’s the thinner version of ¾-in. floor. It can be installed to concrete at ground level or over plywood at or above ground level.
3. Engineered Hardwood: Engineered hardwood floors are designed to install over concrete and to minimize the moisture effects. This cross-layer construction prevents expunction of floor. This type of floor can be installed anywhere including basement. It’s also cheaper and more environment friendly than others.
4. Locking Hardwood: Locking hardwood floors are engineered floor with advancement. These floors come with advantage of a locking tongue and groove system. You don’t need any nails, staples or glue to install it. Just roll out the moisture barrier underlayment and lock the planks into place.
